CANTATE - Computer Access to Notation and Text in Music Libraries

Project: 
Music catalogues and sheet music should be accessible through a computer placed in the music library or music shop; sheet music should potentially be available through any computer connected to the Internet.

Objective:
To specify the system architecture for a provider-server-system based on the use of distributed catalogues and databases and operating through the World Wide Web; to develope a demonstrator including a sample catalogue and a database of scanned and encoded musical scores; producing a model of how such a system could be further developed and describing the problems to be solved.
