Vietnam 

1. Ho Chi Minh City - Digital audio studio for spoken books

Funding of a studio for the production of digital audio (DAISY) books in the General Science Library. Staff training for the production of digital audio books had already taken place: by means of a DAISY workshop in 2000 and a visit at the Royal National Institute for the Blind in the UK in 2002. Volunteers read the books for recording. They are then distributed in the country via the regional and distric libraries.

2. Ho Chi Minh City - Low vision reading aids

Funding in cooperation with Wilde Ganzen/ICCO of four low vision reading aids for the general reading room in the General Science Library. 

3. Ho Chi Minh City - Internet cafe

Funding in cooperation with the Elsevier Foundation of an integrated Internet Cafe that offers access to the Internet for both blind/visually impaired and sighted persons. 

4. Ho Chi Minh City - Drawing competition for (blind) children

Funding of a heater machine and swellpaper for the production of tactile drawings which allows blind and visually impaired children to participate in the annual drawing competition organised by the General Science Library and a number of museums in the city. Last year's competition saw 10 visually impaired children up on stage for the awards ceremony. 

5. Hanoi - Low vision reading aids

Funding of four low vision reading aids for visually impaired library clients.
